Seit den 90er Jahren sind die Photographien, Videos, Filme und Installationen der finnischen Künstlerin einem internationalen Publikum bekannt. Eija - Liisa Ahtila setzt sich dabei stets mit den dunklen Seiten der Existenz, dem Balancieren zwischen Hoffnung und Verzweiflung auseinander und instrumentalisiert modernste technische Hilfsmittel und aktuelle künstlerische Strategien, um mit psychologischem Gespür die wechselseitigen Beziehungen menschlichen Handelns aufzudecken.
