Janet Cardiff studied at Queens University in Kingston [BFA]
and the University of Alberta [MVA]. Her artworks, whether they
are installations or walking pieces, are mainly audio based.
Solo presentations of her works were shown at the Hamburger Bahnhof,
Berlin [2002], and at the Canadian Pavilion at the Venice Biennial
in 2001 [both with George Bures Miller]. She participated in various
international exhibitions, including »Sculpture.Projects«,
Münster, Germany, in 1997; »Present Tense: Nine artists
in the Nineties«, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art;
»NowHere«, Louisiana Museum, Denmark; »The Museum
as Muse«, the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the São
Paulo Biennial 1998; the 6th International Istanbul Biennial; The
Carnegie International '99/00, and the Opening Exhibition of the
Tate Modern, London, UK. Her work is included in private and public
collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
