Susan Norrie studierte an der National Art School von Sydney sowie dem Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne [1974-76]. Konzentrierte sich Norries Werk der 1970er Jahre vor allem auf den Bereich der Malerei, so sind ihre Arbeiten der letzten zehn Jahre durch die Einbeziehung skulpturaler Elemente sowie durch die Verwendung von Video und Film gekennzeichnet. Seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre wurden ihre Projekte in Australien und international ausgestellt. Ihre Arbeiten sind in zahlreichen Sammlungen von Museen und Galerien vertreten, wie u.a. den Sammlungen des Solomon R. Guggenheim Museums, New York, des Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, und der National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
