The Synthetic Characters Group at the MIT Media Lab was formed in 1997 by Professor Bruce Blumberg. Over the last five years, the group has exhibited installations at SIGGRAPH [1998, 1999, 2001, 2002], Ars Electronica [2002], E3 [2001], the 1999 NY Digital Salon, and a number of other venues. In addition, the group has published widely on topics including real-time learning for virtual characters, interactive cinematography, synthetic perception, and computational modeling of social behavior.
