1987-95 Studium der Neurobiologie, Kognitionsforschung, und Linguistik am MIT (Bachelor of Science 1989; Ph.D. 1995); Post-doc UCSF (neuroimaging); seit 1998 Professor, Department of Linguistics und Department of Biology, University of Maryland College Park; 2003-04 Fellow, Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin; 2004 DaimlerChrysler Berlin Prize, American Academy Berlin. Arbeitsschwerpunkte: Kortikale Basis der Sprachwahrnehmung.
