The Belgian concept artist Wim Delvoye has made a name for himself through his unconventional way of approaching his projects, which testify to his wit and irony as well as, quite often, a certain sarcasm. Ethically as well as legally controversial is his work »TIM«. Tim Steiner, who lives in Zurich, had a motif designed by Delvoye tattooed on his skin which is playing on, in addition to the Virgin Mary – with a death's head floating above her – elements from Asian mythology as well as from cartoon culture. This work was then offered for sale. According to the contractual agreement, the buyer of this live piece of art not only acquires the right to publicly exhibit the skin-painting, they may also have it at their disposal beyond Tim Steiner's death.
TIM will be present at the exhibition Medium Religion on the following days
