Workshop with the artist and activist Ashley Hunt
A Worldmap: In Which We See...
Thu, August 18, 2011 – Sun, August 21, 2011, Workshop

As part of a four-day workshop in preparation for the exhibition »The Global Contemporary. Art Worlds after 1989«, North American artist and activist, Ashley Hunt will be interpreting together with the participants of the workshop the worldmap of the artistic project »A Worldmap: In Which We See...«, thematizing the relation between global themes, such as the impact of globalization processes and the mechanisms of inclusion and preclusion. The workshop intends to put the worldmap of globalization with its diagramed establishment of boundaries and the balance of power in connection with the city of Karlsruhe. Local matters, questions and problems will be collected via photos and sound recordings within the city, hence illustrating an extension of the artistic process. The resulting collection of material of the workshop participants will then be displayed as local interpretation together with the worldmap »A Worldmap: In Which We See...« in the exhibition »The Global Contemporary. Art Worlds after 1989«.
Ashley Hunt invites people from Karlsruhe and from the area who are interested in current globalization processes as well as people working in penal institutions or with refugees to the workshop.

The workshop will be held in English. A German translation will be provided.
