Analyses and Perspectives with New Media
Tue, October 15, 2013 10 am CEST, Symposium

The event aims to carry out a closer inspection of the contemporary barriers to education in German society. While great advances have been made with reference to the dissolution of social obstacles, selective access to education is still conspicuous.

Knowledge of those groups within the population in question, constitute the focus of reflections, along with the consequences of these educational barriers for society. Here, emphasis is place on answers to questions relating to the assumed understanding of freedom, and what effects result through socially restricted participation in education in the fields of economy, democracy and social order.

The way in which educational barriers can be dissolved are presented by way of the media projects PRESENTER by the HfG as well as the television and internet magazine FABRİKA. In addition, it will be shown, by way of the example of the city of Karlsruhe, how educational barriers can be dissolved at the local level. The University of Education Karlsruhe will discuss the way in which corresponding qualifications of the teaching personnel in schools likewise facilitate important options for action.
