Biography

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Nathan Watts currently lives in Frankfurt pursuing a varied freelance career. As a graduate from the International Ensemble Modern Academy, Watts spent a year studying and performing contemporary music. IEMA brought him to new music festivals across Europe and gave him the opportunity to work with composers such as Hans Zender, Brian Ferneyhough, Bernhard Gander, and Elnaz Seyedi. Nathan currently performs in the MadBlaster String Quartet, Ofensemble, Trio Namiro, and as an extra with Ensemble Modern. His participation in music festivals include Impuls Festival, 180 Degrees Festival, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Luzerne Festival Academy, Aspen Music Festival, and Tanglewood Music Center. Nathan Watts holds a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Stephen Geber and a Master of Music from Rice University, Shepherd School of Music
with Desmond Hoebig.
