Roland Vollmar

Biography

Prof. Dr. Roland Vollmar is professor for Informatics for Engineers and Natural Scientists at the University of Karlsruhe. He studied mathematics in Heidelberg and Saarbrücken. Form 1974 to 1989 he hold the chair for Theoretical Informatics at TU Braunschweig, 1989 he accepted the offered chair at the University of Karlsruhe. He holds several honorary posts: dean of the faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Economics at TU Braunschweig, Chairman of the Fakultätentag Informatics, president of the SoSociety of Informatics, vice president of CEPOS, dean of the faculty of Informatics at the University of Karlsruhe and Chairman of the IFIP-WG 1.5. Since 1998 he is member of the senate of the University of Karlsruhe and Chairman of the Konrad-Zuse-Society.
