Sebastian Schmieg studied at the University of the Arts Berlin and has worked as an artist, programmer and lecturer since graduating. He deals with digital work, self-optimization, machine vision and writing as well as interventions within algorithmic systems. His work includes videos, artist books, websites, lecture performances, software and installations and has been exhibited internationally at Transmediale, Berlin, Art Center Nabi, Seoul, Bitforms Gallery, New York, and Photographers' Gallery, London. Sebastian Schmieg lives and works in Berlin.
