Thorbjørn Lausten is one of the few Danish artists to have thoroughly investigated the relations between art and technology and in an international context. This anthology explores the visual systems of Thorbjørn Lausten and his use of scientifical data; from this vantage point he asks questions relating to tzhe boundaries of aesthetics, knowledge, art and technology. Have these boundries really been clearly identified and defined? And who, if anyone, classifies them?

The present anthology offers insights into Thorbjørn Lausten’s practice, covering the early projects within kinetic systems and light structures, the data projects and the exhaustive investigation of visual systems from the late 1960s until today. Moreover, the anthology offers a contextualized understanding of Thorbjørn Lausten practice as part of a paradigmatic change in art referred to as »the algorithmic revolution«.
