Björn Ommer

Biography

Björn Ommer received a diploma in computer science from the University of Bonn, Germany and a Ph.D. degree in computer science from ETH Zurich. Thereafter, he held a postdoctoral position in the computer vision group at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2009, he joined Heidelberg University, Germany, where he is a full professor for scientific computing in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, and he is also on the faculty of the Department of Philosophy. Björn is heading the computer vision group that is affiliated with the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing and is a co-director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing. He serves as an associate editor for IEEE T-PAMI. His research interests are in the field of computer vision and machine learning with applications in neuroscience and the digital humanities.
