Biography

Emmaus Kimani is a poet, an artist and a freelance curator who integrates fusions of people and technologies in visions for humanity. His work has revolved around creative consulting for production and processes in design. He implements and manages, including the related people, usually more focused on artistic and cultural productions; from performance to visual arts and films as per his interests. He has worked with VR/AR, and binaural sound and is generally very interested in the evolution of technology, and its interfacing with humanity. He also regularly works in publishing and marketing of art and cultural productions majoring in communication. His work has led him to immense interest in archiving evolutions of contemporary culture today for tomorrow, with the question of what tomorrow museums may look like and what they will contain from today’s contemporary world of digital technology heavily leading him. He is interested in building and having accessible archives for African cultural and heritage items and more specifically knowledges. Kimani is the founder of Culture Contemporary which is the custodian of the eaContemporary archive and is also a part of the Brush Tu Artist Collective in Nairobi, Kenya. As part of TheMuseumsLab, a pioneering knowledge-exchange program for young professionals from African and German museums, Emmaus Kimani had a residency as a guest researcher at ZKM | Karlsruhe in 2023.
