Marcel Mayor

Biography

Dr. Marcel Mayor is heading a research group at the Institute for Nanotechnology at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and vice head of the research group in »supramolecular chemistry« of Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn.  He studied chemistry at the University of Bern, where he received his PhD at 1995. After research projects at the Laboratoire de Chimie Supramoléculaire, Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and a temporary teaching position as Maître de Confèrence invité am Collège de France in Paris, Mayor came to the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe in 1998. 2000 he was accepted for the Program for Excellent Young Scientists at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. 2002 he finished a postdoctoral thesis at the Université Louis Pasteur in Straßburg. He is scientific advisor of the Swiss National Research Program »Supramolecular Functional Materials«, Member of the initiative »Chemical Nanotechnology« of Dechema, Frankfurt and founding member of the DFG-Center for Functional Nanostructures (CFN) in Karlsruhe.
