Aleph Guitar Quartet
Sat, December 15, 2012 8 pm CET, Concert
The Aleph Guitar Quartet made up of Andrés Hernández Alba, Tillmann Reinbeck, Wolfgang Sehringer and Christian Wernicke, was founded in 1993, from which time on it has since become prominent as an ensemble that has made a decisive contribution to the creation of a contemporary repertoire for four guitars. In close collaboration with the four guitarists, numerous composers develop the tonal possibilities of this line up, augmented by way of collaboration with guest musicians. By awarding contracts of composition, the Aleph Guitar Quartet continually develops its repertoire.

The four musicians regularly hold concerts at festivals of new music, such as Maerz Musik (Berlin), ars nova (SWR), Eclat (Stuttgart), Steirischer Herbst (Graz), Warschauer Herbst, Archipel (Geneva), Pan Music (Seoul) and Klangspuren (Schwaz). In 2011 SWR Baden-Baden produced the recordings of a portrait CD of the Aleph Guitar Quartet, and was released under the NEOS label. Concerts by the Aleph Guitar Quartet have been broadcast by broadcasting corporations such as SWR, ORF, BR, SR, Radio Suisse Romande, Polskie Radio, dradio and RTV SLO.

The Aleph Guitar Quartet works in close cooperation with the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics. The Quartet is sponsored by the Office of Culture of the City of Karlsruhe, the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia, the Goethe Institute and the Spanish Ministry for Culture.
