Andrea Fraser
Tue, June 18, 2013 6 pm CEST, Lecture

It was the artist Andrea Fraser who in 1985 in an article on Louise Lawler, coined the phrase “institutional criticism.” Fraser herself, with her effective performances, videos and installations, developed into one of the most significant representatives of this artistic method, which is based on a differentiated analysis of the art industry and its mechanisms.

Andrea Fraser was born in 1965 in Billings, Montana, USA. She lives and works in Los Angeles. This spring, she is honored with the Wolfgang-Hahn-Preis, including a comprehensive work show at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne. The lecture is a cooperation between the Department of Scenography / Exhibition Design at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art.
