The ZKM opens the New Art Season 2013/2014

With the opening of the large-scale Sound Pavilion The Morning Line on September 15, the ZKM sounds in the new art season 2013/2014. Francesca von Habsburg (Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary/ TBA 21) presents the Sound Pavilion as a gift to the ZKM. From mid-September on, contemporary electro-acoustic compositions by international artists can be experienced above the ZKM_Forecourt by means of 46 loudspeakers and 12 subwoofers.
From dance and theater, film, new music and activism as the first new art form of the 21st century: The ZKM presents with its exhibition program current artistic developments and perspectives on media.
The first large-scale exhibition of the new season opens on September 27, 2013: on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of Compagnie Sasha Waltz & Guests, the ZKM exhibits with Sasha Waltz. Installations Objects Performances the work of the Karlsruhe artists whoses art fuses the two disciplines of dance and sculpture. A comprehensive performance programinvites you not only to see the work by Sasha Waltz but also to experience it!
In collaboration with the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) and the City of Karlsruhe, the ZKM organizes the 3D festival BEYOND from October 3–6, 2013. It presents the new technologies in the field of 3D. In October as well, the Institute for Foreign Affairs (if) introduces about 400 art works from the ifa touring exhibitions at the exhibition WORLD TOUR.
From November 18, 2013 we present the unique connection from film and writing in the 20th and 21st century in the exhibition Script Films. From November 27 to November 30, 2013, the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics presents an overview of artistic output in the field of electronic media at the festival IMATRONIC − Highlight of the event is the awarding of the Giga-Hertz-Prize.
At the end of the year 2013 the exhibition global aCtIVISm opens. It is dedicated to the field of artistic expression: the current global activism as first new art form of the 21st century.
