KAMUNA 2018
Impressions of the KAMUNA
TWENTY!
Sat, August 04, 2018 – Sun, August 05, 2018, Festival

Twenty already? Yes, TWENTY! On August, 4, 2018 museums, libraries and archives in Karlsruhe will open their doors for the 20th time for KAMUNA, the Karlsruhe Museum Night. 20 museums and cultural institutions with over 200 events and countless, diverse exhibits show the special treasures of Karlsruhe’s most important art and culture collections. The visitors are invited to discover a rich variety with exciting, memorable moments and numerous highlights to enjoy!

»Open Codes« gives visitors a glimpse behind the scenes of our digital life, helps them to understand current developments and encourages them to question them. Guided tours through the exhibition convey works of art and scientific work, explain the complex dynamics of codes and how these increasingly influence our lives.

Guided tours through the exhibition »DIA-LOGOS« take visitors back to the origins of information theory and computer science in the Middle Ages, in the »Alchemists' BÄM« children and adults can creatively expand their knowledge of past times. The search game »20 Codes for 19 and one night« invites children and adults to search the ZKM library for images of our time. As every year, the museum rally leads through the entire ZKM.

With the exhibition »Art in Motion«, visitors enter the world of the apparative arts in the 20th century – from photography and cinematography to sound art, radiophonic and televisual art, artistic video, the media-based arts of action and fluxus to the collaborative artistic practices of recent decades.

Musical arts will not be neglected this year at the ZKM either – guided tours through the music studios, Klangdomkonzert and Interfaces-Live Stream »in situ Performances« will be rounded off with the concert »Strahlen« by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The exhibition »ONUK: temporär« shows artistic works by the Karlsruhe photographer Bernhard Schmitt, who accompanied the events in Karlsruhe for many years under the name ONUK.

Visitors can create their own projection landscape in the workshop »Create your own Projection Mapping« and the brave are called upon to free themselves from the »Endcode20: Escape Room« with wisdom and skill and mutual support.

One highlight that visitors can look forward to is the interactive installation »APPARATUM« in the foyer. The installation allows its users to compose, print and listen to their own electroacoustic pieces while gaining insight into the ideas and atmosphere of the Polish Experimental Studio
