What does programming have to do with art? In the workshop we discover aesthetics in code, work with the principle of chance and show how algorithms with regularities and at the same time randomization create fascinating art.
The students learn basic programming principles with the programming language »Logo«, but at the same time they design their own programmed artworks with the app »TurtleCoder« in the exhibition »Open Codes«. Depending on the level of knowledge of the participants, this is accomplished with simple command sequences or scripts with loops up to variables and subfunctions. Immediate results and outcomes promote the self-efficacy experience and whet the appetite for more. Be it self-programmed patterns, crystal shapes, meanders or even fractals.
