A leading project of the Science Year at ZKM

The goal of »Kunst Computer Werke« is to center attention on information science as a medium and means of design for computer-based media art. ZKM and the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG), thereby function as hosts for Science Year 2006’s most important events in the context of art and information science.

informARTics

The heart of the event »Kunst-Computer-Werke« is the art exhibition informARTics in the ZKM foyer and HfG atriums. The cross-section of current German productions presented in the exhibition reveals works that fascinate not only through their demonstration of technological possibilities, but also enable novel experiences of sense and perception. Exhibition visitors can, for example, make sounds with water in Fabian Winkler’s »Waves«, or experience a baptism by fire in Holger Förterer’s »Inflammable«, or by means of the air one breaths, breath a poem from the verse factory in »Odem Mode,« and become an active witness to global energy transformation in the supreme particles’ »R 111«. Additionally, the HfG will present the “best-of” their current information-based art projects. An extensive accompanying program also offers insight into contemporary orientations and positions of computer-based art. The awards ceremony for the »digital sparks« competition sponsored by the Fraunhofer Institute will also take place in the context of the event.
